WEATHER ALERT

If you have to go out today, the morning will be relatively calm with only scattered showers. However, conditions will deteriorate significantly as the day progresses. A low-pressure system is intensifying over Texas, creating significant atmospheric spin. This has led the Storm Prediction Center to raise our severe weather threat level to a 3 out of 5 – a considerable risk for late December. Be prepared for strong to severe storms through early evening.
The strong jet stream will enhance any developing storms, potentially leading to isolated tornado warnings. Otherwise, expect heavy downpours, lightning, and hail. Fortunately, this system is expected to move quickly, with most storms exiting eastward into Louisiana by this evening. We anticipate mostly dry conditions on Friday, followed by another rain system on Saturday, though severe weather is not anticipated at that time.
