Obituary: Walter K. Wise

Walter K. Wise, 74, of Womelsdorf, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Early Life

Walter was born in Stouchsburg, PA, to Raymond G. and Ella B. (Kurtz) Wise. He spent his childhood on the family farm and attended local schools.

Marriage and Family

In 1949, Walter married Etta H. (Hoover) Wise. Together, they had a large family of six children: Lester (Rosanne Zimmerman), Marlene (Rufus Lee Zimmerman), Kenneth (Mary Fern Witmer), Wilmer (Marlene Wenger), Janice (Glen Hoover), and Clair (Mary Ann Hoover). He was also a devoted son-in-law to Gary Zimmerman.

Faith and Community

Walter was a faithful member of Martins Mennonite Church. He served his community as a dairy farmer for many years.

Legacy of Love

Walter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family and always put their needs first. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, 57 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous other extended family members and friends.

Memorial Services

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Fairview Reception Center in Lebanon, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 9:30 AM at Martins Mennonite Church in Womelsdorf, PA. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
