Wanted man arrested following deadly stabbing in South Nashville, TN

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man wanted in connection with a deadly stabbing that happened at a South Nashville condo Thursday night has been taken into custody.

On Thursday, March 16, the Metro Nashville Police Department said officers responded to a condominium complex in the 500 block of Harding Pike and found a man stabbed to death inside the condo.

Officials later announced that Gary Burchett, 50, was wanted in connection with the stabbing that resulted in the death of 51-year-old Thomas Wayne Mitchell.

According to Metro police, Mitchell had reportedly been living with Burchett’s estranged wife.

On Saturday, March 18, just before 8:30 am, authorities announced that Burchett was arrested by the Overton County Sheriff’s Office, but he will be returned to Nashville soon.

No other information was immediately released.
