Whitney High School in Cerritos Locked Down After Possible Bomb Threat, Demand for $10,000

Whitney High School in Cerritos was on lockdown Thursday after a caller threatened to detonate a bomb at the campus if a demand for money was not met.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 3 pm to the school in the 16800 block of Shoemaker Avenue. No evidence of explosives was reported.

Students were later escorted from the campus to reunite with parents who gathered outside the school. There were no reports of any injuries.

Authorities said the caller demanded a $10,000 ransom, City News Service reported. No arrests were reported Friday morning.
