10. MEXT (Japanese Government) Scholarship
Country: Japan | Level: Research Scholarship and Undergraduate tracks
Funding: Tuition, exam and matriculation fees waived, round-trip airfare, and a monthly stipend (¥143,000–145,000/month depending on your track and level)
Deadline: The Research Scholarship 2027-intake deadline was 26 May 2026 and the Undergraduate track deadline was 5 June 2026 — both now closed; the next opportunity is the 2028 intake, expected around May–June 2027
IELTS required: Not required in the same way — Japanese-medium tracks require Japanese ability, tested partly through an embassy interview, with a preparatory Japanese course provided if needed
