Vinted Buyer Protection Fee Calculator — the Fee & Your Real Total as a Buyer

Vinted charges sellers nothing — and charges buyers on every order. The Vinted buyer protection fee (renamed simply the “Vinted fee” in some markets in October 2026) is added to the item price at checkout together with the shipping, and it is the platform’s main way of making money. This calculator applies the published formula — a percentage of the price plus a fixed amount, both editable — and shows your real total and what the seller actually receives: the full listed price.

The formula, by market

In most Vinted markets the fee is a straight formula (published in Vinted’s help centre and price lists, checked October 2026): 5% of the item price + a fixed €0.70 — the same structure in Spain, France, Germany and Ireland, and in the US as 5% + $0.70. The United Kingdom is the exception: Vinted’s UK price list sets the fee on a sliding scale of 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80, with the percentage falling as the price rises (it is capped at 3% on items of £500 or more). The exact UK figure is calculated at checkout and shown before you pay; to estimate it here, type a percentage and fixed amount inside that range. Everywhere, the fee is calculated on the item price — or on the bundle total for bundled orders — never on the shipping.

Worked example

A €20 dress with €3.49 shipping in Spain: fee = 5% of €20 + €0.70 = €1.00 + €0.70 = €1.70. The buyer pays €20 + €1.70 + €3.49 = €25.19; the seller receives the full €20. On a €10 item the same formula gives a €1.20 fee — 12% of the price — which is why experienced buyers bundle several items from one seller: one fee calculation on the bundle total and one shipping charge instead of three.

What the fee covers

The fee pays for Vinted’s secure payment handling and its refund policy: if the item never arrives, arrives damaged, or is significantly not as described, the buyer can claim a refund through Vinted instead of chasing the seller — provided they report the problem within the window Vinted sets after delivery (typically 2 days). It is not optional on orders placed with the Buy button, and paying a seller outside the platform removes the protection entirely. Sellers pay no selling commission on standard accounts, which is exactly why the cost sits on the buyer’s side of the receipt.

A recent rename worth knowing

In October 2026 Vinted began renaming the Buyer Protection fee to simply the “Vinted fee” in the US, UK and Australia; the calculation did not change, and you may see both names in the app for a while. Whatever it is called in your market, the number is always visible in the price breakdown on the listing and again at checkout — if it differs from this calculator’s result, the checkout figure is the one that counts, and you can type it into the fields above to work backwards.

A note for sellers: price the buyer’s total, not your tag

Because the buyer pays the fee, your competitor is not the other seller’s tag price — it is their tag plus fee plus shipping against yours. A €18 listing with €3.19 shipping beats a €20 listing with €4.50 shipping by more than the €2 gap suggests, once both fees are added. This is also why bundles are the strongest lever on Vinted: the fee is worked out on the bundle as a whole and shipping is paid once, so three €8 items bought together can cost the buyer several euros less than the same three bought separately — savings you can point to in the listing description without cutting your own prices at all.
