There is no single Stripe price. The same €100 payment costs a US account 2.9% + 30¢, an EEA account 1.5% + €0.25, and more again when the card was issued abroad or Stripe has to convert the currency. This Stripe fee estimator starts from the region your account is based in, loads that region’s published base rate, and lets you switch on the two surcharges that catch sellers out — the international-card add-on and the currency-conversion add-on — so the fee you see is the fee you will actually pay.
All rates were read from Stripe’s official pricing pages in October 2026 and every field stays editable for custom or negotiated pricing. ¿Tu cuenta está en España? La versión en español trabaja directamente en euros: Calculadora de Comisiones Stripe España.
The published rates behind the presets
From stripe.com/pricing (US), stripe.com/gb/pricing (UK) and stripe.com/es/pricing (EEA), checked October 2026. United States: 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic cards, +1.5% for international cards, +1% if currency conversion is required. EEA accounts: 1.5% + €0.25 for standard EEA cards (premium cards 1.9% + €0.25), 3.15% + €0.25 for international cards — an add-on of 1.65 points over the base — and +2% when conversion is required. United Kingdom: 1.5% + 20p for standard UK cards (premium 2.8% + 20p), 2.5% + 20p for EEA cards, 3.15% + 20p for other international cards, and +2% for currency conversion. The presets load each region’s standard base rate and its headline international and conversion add-ons; the UK EEA-card rate sits between the two toggles, so type 2.5% into the base field if most of your UK-account sales come from European cards.
Worked examples
A $100 payment on a US account with a US card: fee $3.20, you keep $96.80 — an effective 3.2%. Turn on both surcharges (an international card paid in a currency Stripe must convert) and the rate becomes 5.4% + 30¢: fee $5.70, you keep $94.30. The same €100 on an EEA account with a local card costs just €1.75 (1.5% + €0.25). And £100 on a UK account with an international card runs at 3.15% + 20p: fee £3.35, you keep £96.65. All four cases reproduce exactly in the estimator above.
Why the region is your account’s, not your customer’s
Stripe prices by the country of your Stripe account and the origin of the card. A Spanish company with a US Stripe account pays US rates; a US company whose customer pays with a German card pays the international add-on. When you estimate a cross-border business, model the mix honestly: if half your cards are international, the blended fee sits halfway between the two toggles — run both cases and average the results. Platforms change fees, and high-volume accounts negotiate custom (IC+) pricing, so treat the presets as the published starting point and verify on Stripe’s pricing page for your country.
What is not in the fee
Disputes ($15 / £20 / €20 received fee), Radar and Billing add-ons, instant-payout fees and the cost of refunds (the original processing fee is not returned) all sit outside this estimate. For most small sellers the card fee modelled here is 90%+ of the true processing cost — but if disputes are common in your niche, add them separately.
Two surcharges sellers miss
Manually entered cards — typed into the Dashboard or taken over the phone — cost US accounts an extra 0.5% (3.4% + 30¢ in total), because keyed transactions carry more fraud. And the headline online rates are not the in-person rates: Stripe Terminal runs at 2.7% + 5¢ for US domestic cards, with its own international treatment. If your mix includes phone orders or a physical till, model them as separate cases with the fields above rather than blending them into the online rate — the blended figure will understate what the keyed share really costs you.
