Obituary: Alice Louise Callis

Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alice Louise Callis, who passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Alice was a remarkable woman who lived a life filled with love, service, and unwavering faith.

Early Life and Marriage

Alice was born on January 5, 1932, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to James Callis of Leicester, England, and Florence (Graves) Callis of Marblehead, Massachusetts. She grew up in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1949. It was at a Youth Fellowship gathering that she met David Yeaton of Belgrade, Maine, who would become her beloved husband of 73 years.

A Life of Service

Alice was an active and dedicated member of various churches throughout her life, including Christ Community Church in Utica, New York, the Methodist Church in Marcy, New York, and St. James United Methodist Church in Merrimack, New Hampshire. She and her husband contributed countless hours of service to these congregations, sharing their faith and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.

A Passion for the Arts

Alice had a lifelong love of music. She played bugle in the Drum and Bugle Corps as a teenager, sang in church choirs and community choruses, and enjoyed dancing and toe-tapping at every opportunity. She also played the piano and wrote poetry.

A Generous and Caring Spirit

Alice was a generous and caring person who always put others before herself. She was an avid crocheter, creating countless hats, scarves, and mittens for the deployed active-duty military and donating to the Wounded Warrior Project. She was also a skilled cook and baker, sharing her culinary creations with her family and friends.

A Loving Family

Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, David F. Yeaton; her daughters, Susan and her husband George, Betty, and Janice; her son, Steven and his wife Karen; her granddaughter-in-law, Cara; her grandsons, Bryan and Johnathan and his partner Mary; and her four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Alana, Donny, and Logan.

A Legacy of Love

Alice Louise Callis was a true blessing to all who knew her. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Memorial Service

A memorial service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, at 11 a.m., at St. James United Methodist Church, 646 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, New Hampshire. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
