The Dunaway Music family announces with deep sorrow the passing of Bethany Lemon Hurt, a beloved office assistant and radio promoter. Bethany dedicated the last ten years to Dunaway Music, promoting the work of The Dunaways and, for the past four years, also served as radio promoter for the Villines Trio. While we mourn her loss, we celebrate her life and rejoice that she has gone home to be with the Lord. Her unwavering dedication to God, her family, friends, and ministry will be her enduring legacy.
A memorial service honoring Bethany Lemon Hurt will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at New Zion United Pentecostal Church in Philadelphia, MS. Reverend Randall Dunaway will officiate.
Bethany, 45, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Ochsner Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. A West Virginia native, she had resided in Philadelphia, MS, for the past twelve years. During this time, she worked in sales and radio promotions, and was an active member of New Zion United Pentecostal Church. Her passions included spending time with family, nurturing relationships with the church’s children, and her deep love for Southern Gospel music, which she actively promoted.
Bethany was preceded in death by her parents, Dale F. Lemon II and Reta Cowdrey Lemon; and siblings, Adria Lemon and Tom Lemon. She is survived by her husband, Jeremy Hurt of Philadelphia; three nephews, Elias, Andreus, and Myles; her best friend, Janet Medina of Parkersburg, WV; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her cherished dog, Roxy.
