Cheryl Burke, the celebrated former professional dancer on “Dancing With the Stars,” has announced she’s putting her podcast, “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans,” on hiatus. In an emotional Instagram video posted Monday, Burke expressed her gratitude to her loyal listeners, acknowledging their unwavering support, particularly during periods of controversy. She emphasized that their belief in her was the sole reason she persevered.
Burke launched “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” as a platform to discuss news and behind-the-scenes happenings on “DWTS,” including events such as the arrest of former pro Artem Chigvintsev and the numerous relationships that blossomed between celebrities and their dance partners. However, she clarified that her intention was never to cast a negative light on the show that shaped her career. She urged anyone who misinterpreted the podcast or questioned her love for “Dancing With the Stars” to listen to the episodes, emphasizing that her heart was always in the right place. She maintained that the podcast was about truth, connection, and storytelling, not about negativity or deliberate takedowns.
Burke’s 26 seasons on “Dancing With the Stars” saw her partnered with numerous celebrities, including Drew Carey, Rob Kardashian, Chris Jericho, and Ryan Lochte. A remarkable achievement in her career includes winning the coveted mirrorball trophy twice in consecutive seasons – a feat accomplished by no other competitor before her. Her victories with Drew Lachey (season two) and Emmitt Smith (season three) cemented her legacy as the first female professional to achieve this double win. Beyond “DWTS,” Burke also briefly served as head coach on “Dance Moms” in 2017 and published her autobiography, “Dancing Lessons,” in 2011. The podcast, a collaboration between Variety and iHeartRadio, concludes its run for now, leaving behind a significant chapter in Burke’s already illustrious career.
