2024: A Year of Celebrity Shout-Outs and JoBlo Milestones
2024 was a whirlwind year for pop culture, filled with exciting movies, TV shows, and video games like *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*. As we look forward to an even busier 2025 (with our extensive preview dropping tomorrow!), we’re taking a moment to reflect on the past year’s highlights. One such highlight is a collection of amazing celebrity shout-outs to JoBlo, compiled by our ace editor Jay St G. These shout-outs, featured on the Celebrity Interviews channel, showcase the appreciation of stars like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Denzel Washington. From amused reactions to heartfelt gratitude, these videos are a testament to JoBlo’s long-standing presence in the entertainment industry.
JoBlo’s journey began in 1998, and we’ve proudly remained one of the last independent sites still operating. Our growth has been remarkable, culminating in an extensive YouTube network boasting 12 channels, over 17 million subscribers, and over 13 billion lifetime views. As someone who’s conducted many of these interviews, it’s incredibly rewarding to witness the appreciation from those we admire. The shout-out from Sylvester Stallone—a personal hero whose autographed *Tulsa King* poster hangs proudly in my home—remains a career highlight. Be sure to check out the first video compilation above, with more to come in a few days!
Beyond the celebrity shout-outs, 2024 also brought significant milestones for JoBlo. Editor-in-Chief Chris Bumbray, who joined JoBlo in 2007 as the resident film critic and James Bond expert, continues to be a pivotal force, also serving as a voting member of the CCA and a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic. He can regularly be seen discussing pop culture on CTV News Channel.
