A woman is dead and three children are seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Chicago’s West Garfield Park neighborhood. The accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on the 4300 block of West Lake Street. Police reported that a Lexus SUV traveling westbound on Lake Street struck a pillar.
A 30-year-old woman was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A male, whose age is currently unknown, was also taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition. Three children, aged 11, 13, and 15, were transported to Stroger Hospital, also with serious injuries.
No citations have been issued at this time, and the Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating the incident. Further details are pending.
