Death Notice: Beverly “Bev” Jean Fitzsimmons

Beverly “Bev” Jean Fitzsimmons, 86, of Skowhegan, passed away peacefully on May 15th in Bangor. No services will be held, but a celebration of life is planned for this summer. Care of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home.

Obituary

Beverly “Bev” Jean Fitzsimmons was born on June 10, 1936, in Skowhegan, Maine, to parents John and Mary Fitzsimmons. She grew up on a farm with her three siblings and attended Skowhegan Area High School. After graduating, she moved to Boston where she worked as a secretary for a law firm.

In 1960, Bev married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Fitzsimmons. The couple lived in Boston for several years before moving back to Skowhegan to raise their family. Bev and Dick had three children: David, Nancy, and Susan.

Bev was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, and traveling. She was also an active member of her community, volunteering for various organizations.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, John. She is survived by her children, David (Jennifer) Fitzsimmons of Skowhegan, Nancy (Mark) Fitzsimmons of Bangor, and Susan (John) Fitzsimmons of Portland; her grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, and Matthew; her great-grandchildren, Sophia and Ethan; her sister, Mary (John) Fitzsimmons of Skowhegan; and her brother, James (Nancy) Fitzsimmons of Skowhegan.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of life for Bev will be held this summer at a date and time to be announced.
