## In Memoriam: Dorothy S. Fowler, Trailblazer and Beloved Community Member

Augusta, Maine – May 21, 2023 – It is with profound sadness that the community mourns the passing of Dorothy S. Fowler, a cherished resident of Augusta who left an unforgettable mark on those who knew her. Ms. Fowler, 60, passed away peacefully in Augusta on May 21, surrounded by loved ones.

Ms. Fowler’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and countless individuals whose lives she touched. Her unwavering spirit and dedication to her community made her a beacon of inspiration and a true role model.

Born and raised in Augusta, Ms. Fowler exhibited a thirst for knowledge and a deep-seated desire to make a difference in her surroundings. After graduating from Cony High School, she embarked on a fulfilling career in nursing, serving as a compassionate and skilled caregiver at MaineGeneral Medical Center for over three decades.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Fowler was an active and engaged member of the Augusta community. She was a dedicated volunteer at Fuller School and served as a member of the PTA. Her unwavering belief in the power of education led her to serve as a mentor and tutor to countless young people.

Ms. Fowler’s passion for the arts and music was evident in all she did. She was a talented pianist and vocalist, performing in several local choirs and musical groups. Her love of the arts extended to her appreciation for theater and dance, and she regularly attended performances at the Kennebec Valley Arts Association.

Funeral Arrangements

Arrangements for Ms. Fowler’s funeral are under the compassionate care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home in Augusta. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 24th, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta.

The community is invited to gather to celebrate Ms. Fowler’s life and legacy. Her unwavering spirit, dedication to others, and passion for the arts will forever be remembered and cherished.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ms. Fowler’s memory to two organizations close to her heart: The Augusta Public Library and The Augusta Symphony Orchestra.
