It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Crotto, a beloved member of the Waterville community who passed away peacefully at home on April 26. Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and countless others whose lives he touched with his unwavering spirit and unwavering kindness.

A Life of Service and Community

Mike was born and raised in Waterville, where he spent his entire life serving the community he loved. He was a dedicated volunteer with several local organizations, including the Waterville Boys & Girls Club, the Waterville Humane Society, and the Waterville Area Food Pantry. Mike’s unwavering commitment to helping others was a testament to his compassionate nature and belief in the power of community.

In addition to his volunteer work, Mike was a pillar of the business community. He owned and operated Crotto’s Variety Store for over 30 years, where he became a familiar face and friend to countless residents. Mike’s store was more than just a place of business; it was a gathering place where people could connect, share stories, and feel a sense of belonging.

A Legacy of Love and Laughter

Mike’s love for his family was boundless. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. Mike’s infectious laughter and quick wit brought joy to all who knew him.

Whether he was cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, organizing neighborhood cookouts, or simply spending time with his loved ones, Mike had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved.

A Celebration of Life

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on June 8th from 11am to 1pm at the Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home in Augusta. The celebration will be followed by a reception where family and friends can share memories and pay tribute to Mike’s extraordinary life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Waterville Boys & Girls Club in Mike’s memory.

Mike Crotto’s passing leaves a void in the Waterville community that will be impossible to fill. His unwavering spirit, kindness, and love for others will continue to inspire us all.
