Obituary

Retha Joan (Stevens) Libby, a beloved resident of North Belgrade, passed away peacefully on May 11 at the age of 88. Her passing brought deep sorrow to her family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Born in Waterville, Maine, on March 15, 1936, Retha was the daughter of the late John and Doris (Smith) Stevens. She grew up in a loving home and attended local schools, graduating from Waterville High School in 1954. After high school, Retha worked as a secretary before meeting the love of her life, Richard Libby.

Retha and Richard were married on June 18, 1957, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. They welcomed two children into the world, a son, Robert, and a daughter, Linda. Retha was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family’s needs before her own.

In addition to her dedication to her family, Retha was an active member of her community. She volunteered countless hours at her local church and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was also an avid gardener and took great pride in tending to her flowerbeds.

Retha will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love. She had a warm smile that could light up a room and a contagious laugh that brought joy to all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours for Retha Joan Libby will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home, located at 10 Elm Street in Waterville, Maine.

Funeral Arrangements

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. Following the service, Retha will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
