Obituary: Ronald Cook, 97, of Winslow

Ronald Cook, 97, of Winslow, passed away on May 11th. He was born in Winslow on June 3, 1925, to parents John and Mary (Smith) Cook.

Ronald was a lifelong resident of Winslow. He attended Winslow High School and graduated in 1943. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

After the war, Ronald returned to Winslow and worked as a mechanic for several years. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Barbara (Jones) Cook. They had two children, a son, Ronald Jr., and a daughter, Susan.

Ronald was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was also a talented woodworker and enjoyed making furniture and other items for his family and friends.

Ronald was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help others. He was a member of the Winslow Lions Club for over 50 years and served as president of the club on several occasions. He was also a member of the Winslow Historical Society and the Winslow VFW Post.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Ronald Jr.; his daughter, Susan; his grandchildren, Ronald III and Jessica; his great-grandchildren, Ronald IV and Emily; and his sister, Mary (Cook) Jones.

A graveside service will be held for Ronald on June 3rd at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Rest in Winslow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Winslow Lions Club or the Winslow Historical Society.
