Obituary: Roland “Rollie” Felix Raymond

Roland “Rollie” Felix Raymond, 80, of Gardiner, passed away peacefully on May 18, surrounded by his loving family.

Rollie was born on July 5, 1942, in Waterville, Maine, to Felix and Edna Raymond. He grew up in Winslow and attended Winslow High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably for four years.

After his military service, Rollie returned to Maine and began working as a carpenter. He was a skilled craftsman and took great pride in his work. He was also a member of the Carpenters’ Union for over 50 years.

In 1965, Rollie married the love of his life, Patricia “Patty” Martin. They settled in Gardiner and raised three children together. Rollie was a devoted husband and father, and his family was his greatest joy.

Rollie was a kind and generous man who always put others before himself. He was a friend to everyone he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was also a man of strong faith and was an active member of the Gardiner Assembly of God.

Rollie enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He was also a talented musician and loved to play the guitar and sing.

Rollie will be deeply missed by his wife, Patty; his children, Roland Jr. (Michelle), Julie (Mike), and Mark (Kelli); his grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Joshua, and Matthew; his great-grandchild, Kaylee; his siblings, Roger, Reggie, Ronnie, and Rita; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of Rollie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Augusta VFW, Leighton Road, Augusta, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rollie’s memory to the Gardiner Assembly of God, 340 Maine Avenue, Gardiner, Maine 04345.
