Published: December 28, 2024 at 9:55 PM
A tornado tore through parts of Dickinson early Saturday, causing significant destruction. The hardest-hit areas include neighborhoods along Hughes Road, from I-45 to east of Highway 3. The Dickinson City Emergency Management Coordinator reported that the tornado appeared to skip across Dickinson Bayou and East FM 517, before impacting the Briar Hollow Drive and Misty Cove Court areas, where homes sustained moderate to major damage.
Despite the extensive damage, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities. Approximately 80 Texas New Mexico Power (TNMP) customers remain without electricity, down from 400 earlier in the day. TNMP crews are working to restore power, with estimated completion between 9:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.
City officials are requesting residents and businesses to self-report any storm-related damages online at arcg.is/ajyvq0 or via email at damage@dickinsontexas.gov. As recovery efforts continue, Dickinson residents are urged to stay safe and report damages promptly to assist the city’s assessment and response.
