Dorothy Howard, Beloved Community Servant, Passes Away

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Howard, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and pillar of her community. Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 15th, 2024, in Eagan, MN. She was 75 years old.

Early Life and Family

Dorothy was born on July 8th, 1948, in Killdeer, North Dakota, to Linus and Rosie Roshau. She grew up in a loving home surrounded by her siblings, Stanley and Gary. Dorothy met her future husband, John Howard, while attending college in Bismarck, ND. They married in 1970 and began their life together in Fargo, North Dakota.

Career and Community Service

Dorothy dedicated over 30 years of her life to serving the Cass County Courthouse in Fargo. She held the elected position of Clerk of Court for the majority of her tenure, earning respect and admiration for her tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to justice.

Beyond her professional life, Dorothy was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered countless hours to various organizations, including the local food pantry and homeless shelter. Dorothy’s compassion and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Later Years and Family Legacy

In 2014, Dorothy and John relocated to the Twin Cities to be closer to their grandchildren, whom they adored. Dorothy’s love for her family was boundless, and she took great joy in spending time with them. She was a doting grandmother to Emily, Ellie, Peter, and Grace.

Dorothy’s legacy will live on through her children, Kimberly (Chris) Glatt and Patrick (Mary) Howard, her grandchildren, her brother Stanley Roshau, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones.

Memorial Arrangements

A small family service will be held in Killdeer, ND, this summer, where Dorothy will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, John. Memorial donations in Dorothy’s name can be made to White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Avenue, Burnsville, MN 55337. These donations will be used to establish a scholarship fund for the education of hospice nurses, a cause close to Dorothy’s heart.

Dorothy Howard was a true treasure, a shining example of what it means to live a life of love, service, and compassion. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
