The Drunk Text Generator rewrites your text so it looks typed by someone who has had too much to drink. Set the Drunkenness Level from 0 to 10, and this Drunk Text Generator adds stretched letters, random capital letters, keyboard typos, and extra exclamation marks. Use it for jokes, party invites, and funny social posts.
How to use the Drunk Text Generator
- Type or paste your text in the box under the label “Text:”. The counts under the box show your word count and character count as you type.
- Drag the “Drunkenness Level” slider to the level you want. The number next to the slider shows the level, from 0 to 10.
- Click “Generate Drunk Text”.
- Read the changed text in the result area under the button.
- Click “Copy Result” to copy it, “Tweet Result” to share it on Twitter, or “Clear All” to empty the page and start again.
Click “Generate Drunk Text” again for a fresh version. The randomness is rolled again on every click, so the same text at the same level gives a new result each time.
Worked example
This is one real run of the tool. With the level set to 5, the text “Happy birthday to you!” came out as “Hqlpppy BBiitthDah TTp houuu!”.
You can see all four effects in that one line. Some letters are stretched out, some turn into capitals, some are swapped for nearby keys on the keyboard, and the ending keeps its exclamation mark. Run the same text again and you will get a different version, because every change is decided by chance.
Example results
The outputs below are single real runs captured from the tool’s own code. Your outputs will differ, because each run is random.
| Text and level | One sample output |
|---|---|
| Hello there. (level 0) | Hello there. |
| Hello there. (level 1) | Hello tthereeee. |
| See you at nine. (level 3) | drEEE yoi at miiine.! |
| I am fine, thanks. (level 8) | IIII qm ffiinnr, ThwbiSS. |
| Good night! (level 10) | hloooDDDD NNiiivhhhTTTT!!! |
Read the rows from top to bottom and you can see the slider at work. Low levels change only a letter or two, so the text stays easy to read. High levels change most letters in some way, and short messages can turn into near-nonsense, which is often the joke. For a message people still need to understand, stay at level 3 or lower and generate a few versions, then keep the clearest one.
Limits and good to know
- The Drunkenness Level runs from 0 to 10. At level 0 the tool makes no changes at all, and your text comes back exactly as typed.
- Results are random and cannot be repeated. There is no way to get the same output twice on purpose, and no undo button.
- Typos only swap letters a to z for nearby keys on a standard keyboard. Numbers and most symbols are never swapped, though full stops, exclamation marks, and question marks can gain extra exclamation marks.
- Higher levels can make text very hard to read. At level 10, most letters may be stretched, swapped, or capitalized.
- There is no download button. Use “Copy Result” and paste the text where you need it.
- The word and character counts under the box describe your original text, not the result.
Why is my result empty or wrong?
You see “Please enter some text.”: the Text box was empty when you clicked the button. Type or paste some text first, then click “Generate Drunk Text”.
The result looks the same as your input: the Drunkenness Level is probably at 0, or the random rolls changed nothing on this run. Raise the level and click the button again.
“No result to copy.” or “No result to tweet.” appears: you clicked a sharing button before generating anything. Generate a result first, then copy or tweet it.
The text is too messy to read: the level is too high for your purpose. Lower the slider; levels 1 to 3 add only light changes.
Why use this Drunk Text Generator?
It makes joke messages, party invites, and playful posts in seconds, and the slider lets you choose how messy the text gets, from a slight wobble at low levels to barely readable at level 10. Copy and tweet buttons are built in, so once the result looks right you can share it without any extra steps or installs.
Drunk Text Generator – frequently asked questions
Is the Drunk Text Generator free to use?
Yes. It is free on this page, with no sign-up, and you can generate as many versions of your text as you like.
Why is my result different every time I click?
Each letter is changed by a random roll, so every click produces a new version. Even the same text at the same level will not match the last run.
What does the Drunkenness Level change?
A higher level raises the chance that each letter is repeated, capitalized, swapped for a nearby keyboard key, or followed by extra exclamation marks.
Does my text leave my device?
No. The tool runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. Only if you click Tweet Result does your result open in Twitter, ready for you to post.
