Fatal Christmas Morning Car Crash in Houston
A man was killed and a woman critically injured in a violent car accident early Christmas morning in Houston. The accident occurred just before 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 25th, 2024, on Wilson Road near N. Sam Houston Parkway.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies and first responders arrived on the scene to find a vehicle had struck an electric pole, causing the transformers to fall onto the car and ignite a fire. The two occupants were trapped inside the burning vehicle. Firefighters were forced to wait for the power lines to be de-energized before they could extinguish the blaze.
The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger suffered burns to approximately 70% of her body and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. While it wasn’t raining at the time of the crash, road conditions were reportedly slippery due to earlier thunderstorms. Authorities are currently determining whether excessive speed or alcohol were contributing factors.
