Obituary

Flavia Lucia “Lucy” (Ferrara) Ciatto, 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 17, 2024, at The Highlands at Wyomissing.

Lucy was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Frank G. and Rosaria (Cucinotta) Ferrara. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, where she was one of the first cheerleaders. After graduation, Lucy worked as the owner of Mademoiselle, a women’s boutique in Reading, for several years before starting her family.

Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to her beloved husband, Joseph Ciatto, for 71 years until his passing in 2020. Together, they raised three children: Gregory, Maria, and Joseph Jr. Lucy was also the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lucy loved spending time with her family, cooking, baking, gardening, and entertaining. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Berkshire Country Club for 44 years. Lucy also enjoyed spending her winters in her second home in Naples, Florida.

Lucy was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in West Reading. She was also a member of the Wyomissing Public Library.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son, Joseph Jr.; her brother, Harry Ferrara; and her parents, Frank and Rosaria Ferrara.

Lucy is survived by her two children, Gregory and Maria; her grandchildren, Adrienne, Brian, Francesca, David, Samantha, and Olivia; her great-grandchildren, Jillian and Jordan; and her sister, Rose Marie Feicht.

Funeral Arrangements

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 701 Franklin Street, West Reading, Pennsylvania 19611. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, Pennsylvania 19605.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, Pennsylvania 19611.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church or The Wyomissing Public Library.
