Free geometric pattern tile generator: design seamless triangle, hexagon, diamond, chevron, dot and line tiles, preview them repeated, and download the PNG tile.
Geometric patterns are everywhere: on wrapping paper, phone wallpapers, fabric, website backgrounds, and packaging. The secret behind a good pattern is the tile: a small square that repeats perfectly in every direction, with no visible seam where one copy meets the next. Drawing such a tile by hand is fiddly work. Our free geometric pattern tile generator does it for you: pick a shape, pick two colors, set the sizes, and download a seamless PNG tile, with a live preview that shows the tile repeated so you can check the seams before you use it.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account. The tile you download is yours to use anywhere.
What makes a pattern seamless
A pattern is seamless when its edges match. Whatever leaves the right edge of the tile must enter the left edge at the same height, and whatever leaves the bottom must enter the top at the same position. If that rule holds, copies of the tile join invisibly and the eye sees one continuous pattern instead of a grid of squares. If it fails, you get ugly lines where the tiles meet.
Our generator builds each pattern from the tile size and cell size you choose, drawing shapes on a grid that wraps correctly. Triangles sit in rows that fill the tile edge to edge. Hexagons use offset rows so each row nests into the one above. Diamonds meet at their points. Chevron zigzags repeat at exact intervals. Dots sit on a regular grid, and diagonal lines are drawn across the whole tile so they continue into the neighbor. The preview shows the tile repeated three by three, which is the honest test: if the seams were wrong, you would see them there.
The six patterns
Triangles give a bold, energetic feel and suit posters, sportswear, and children’s designs. Hexagons feel technical and natural at once, like honeycomb, and suit science, gaming, and modern branding. Diamonds feel classic and decorative, good for invitations, packaging, and elegant backgrounds. Chevron, the zigzag, is lively and retro, popular for nurseries, parties, and fashion. Dots are the quietest pattern: a polka grid that adds texture without competing with text or photos. Diagonal lines add direction and movement, good for sporty designs and section dividers.
Each pattern takes two colors: a shape color and a background color. High contrast pairs, like navy on white, make the pattern bold. Low contrast pairs, like light gray on white, make a subtle texture that sits behind text without fighting it. Try both: the same pattern can serve as a loud wallpaper or a quiet background depending only on the colors.
How to use the generator
Choose a pattern from the menu. Set the tile size: 256 pixels is a good default for web use, while 512 or 1024 suits print. Set the cell size: smaller cells make a denser, busier pattern, while larger cells make a calmer, bolder one. Pick your two colors, then click generate. The left canvas shows the single tile you will download. The right canvas shows it repeated, so you can check that the pattern flows. If you like it, click the download button to save the tile as a PNG.
To use the tile as a background, repeat it in your design tool, your website’s CSS, or your presentation software. Because the tile is seamless, any number of repeats looks like one continuous pattern. For a website, a small tile repeated across the page loads fast and looks crisp at any screen size. For print, generate a larger tile so the pattern stays sharp.
Design tips for better patterns
First, match the pattern scale to the job. Tiny cells look great on phone wallpapers but turn to mush in print at small sizes. Large cells look confident on posters but empty on a business card. Second, keep contrast low for backgrounds that carry text, and high for decorative pieces. Third, limit yourself to two colors: geometric patterns look strongest with a restrained palette, and you can always tint the tile later in your editor. Fourth, test the repeat at the real size you will use it, not just in the preview: zoom out until the tile is small, and check that the overall effect still reads well.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the tiles commercially? Yes. Tiles you generate are yours for any project, commercial or personal, with no credit required.
Will the pattern really repeat without seams? Yes. The shapes are drawn on a grid that wraps at the tile edges, and the preview lets you verify the repeat before downloading.
What tile size should I pick? 256 pixels for web backgrounds, 512 or 1024 for print. Larger tiles stay sharper when printed big.
Pick a pattern, choose your colors, and download a seamless tile in under a minute.
