Obituary of Gloria Simms

Gloria Simms, 97, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2023, following a brief illness. Born in Louisiana, she was a longtime resident of Vallejo. Gloria worked at Napa State Hospital for 26 years before retiring.

Gloria was known for her love of travel, baking, decorating cakes, arts and crafts, and playing Bingo and visiting casinos. She also cherished her time spent with family and friends. Gloria was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church and the Charismatic Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Pierre and Viola Tasso Pierre, and her twin sisters, Ollie Mae White and Mary Boyd. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Linda Simms and Lisa Thompson (Donald Baskerville), granddaughter Lakisha Brown, grandsons Brandon Baskerville and Dalonte Baskerville, great-grandson Rashad Brown, great-granddaughter Jordan Brown, and many other relatives and friends.

A Rosary and Vigil will be held at Skyview Mortuary on Wednesday, May 22, from 3-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church on Thursday, May 23rd at 11 am. Burial will follow at All Souls/St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
