Netflix ushers in the New Year with another Harlan Coben adaptation, *Missing You*. Following the success of *The Stranger*, *Stay Close*, and *Fool Me Once*, this new thriller, based on Coben’s 2014 novel, stars Rosalind Eleazar as Detective Inspector Kat Donovan. When Kat reconnects with her ex-fiancé on a dating app after his sudden disappearance eleven years prior, her investigation unearths a web of secrets far more complex than she could have imagined.
Eleazar leads a cast that blends fresh faces with familiar Coben collaborators. Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt, and Marc Warren all reprise their roles in the Harlan Coben universe, albeit as different characters, demonstrating the enduring appeal of Coben’s gripping narratives. The supporting cast boasts a diverse range of talent, each bringing their distinct experience to this compelling mystery.
Kat Donovan, the tough and determined detective heading Westbridge’s Missing Persons Unit, grapples with the unresolved trauma of her father’s murder and her fiancé’s vanishing. Eleazar, known for her roles in *Slow Horses*, *The Personal History of David Copperfield*, and *Harlots*, embodies Kat’s resilience and inner turmoil. Her ex-fiancé, Josh Buchanan, a journalist who abruptly disappeared, is portrayed by Ashley Walters, renowned for his starring role in *Top Boy* and his extensive career spanning from child actor to leading man in films and television.
Richard Armitage returns as Detective Ellis Stagger, a colleague of Kat’s who worked alongside her late father. Armitage’s previous Coben roles include Adam Price in *The Stranger*, Ray Levine in *Stay Close*, and Joe Burkett in *Fool Me Once*. He brings considerable experience, also known for his roles in *The Hobbit* films and *Hannibal*.
The ensemble cast also features Jessica Plummer as Kat’s private investigator friend, Stacey; Sir Lenny Henry as Kat’s deceased father, Clint Donovan; Steve Pemberton as the enigmatic dog breeder, Titus; James Nesbitt (previously seen in *Stay Close*) as Calligan, a shadowy figure in the criminal underworld; Mary Malone as Kat’s friend Aqua; Oscar Kennedy as tech-savvy Brendon Fells; Marc Warren (who appeared in *Safe*) as the imprisoned Monte Leburne; Rudi Dharmalingam as Neuroscience professor Rishi Magari; Samantha Spiro as Nurse Steiner; Lisa Faulkner as Dana; and Jo Martin as Tessie. Supporting roles are filled by Charlie Hamblett, Simon Kunz, Felix Garcia-Guyer, and Matt Jay-Willis, further enriching the narrative tapestry.
