Gavin Wimsatt, the former quarterback for Kentucky and Rutgers, has announced his commitment to Jacksonville State University. The news, shared via social media on Sunday, marks the next chapter in his collegiate career. Wimsatt will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Gamecocks.

His transfer to Jacksonville State comes after a season as a backup quarterback at Kentucky. While appearing in eight games for the Wildcats, he completed 16 of 39 passes for 287 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also contributed significantly on the ground, rushing 49 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to his time in Lexington, Wimsatt spent three seasons at Rutgers.

Wimsatt’s most prolific season occurred in 2023 at Rutgers, where he started all 13 games. During that campaign, he threw for 1,735 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight interceptions, completing 47.8% of his passes. He further showcased his athleticism with 497 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. In total, he has played in 33 collegiate games, starting six in 2022.
