In Loving Memory of Joetta (Jo) Wigdahl

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jo Wigdahl on March 25th, 2024, in Chico, California at the age of 85.

A Life Well-Lived

Jo was born on May 4th, 1938, in Colton, California to William Ernest Mashburn and Leota Marie Mashburn. Alongside her beloved husband, Gerry Wigdahl, she made Orland, California her home for over three decades.

Jo’s unwavering dedication to her community was evident in her active involvement in numerous organizations, including the Capay and Orland Women’s Improvement Club, Friendly Garden Club, Friends of the Orland Free Library, and the Orland Pantry. In recognition of her exceptional volunteerism, she was honored with the prestigious Marjorie Keene Service Award in 2019.

Her kindness and compassion also extended beyond these organizations. Jo held the role of Ombudsman in Orland, where she advocated for the well-being of others.

Jo leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerry Wigdahl, of 58+ years; her children Tony Gonzalez, Fred Gonzalez, Pam Wigdahl Klein, and son-in-law Gary Klein; her daughter-in-law Amy Caperello; and her beloved grandchildren Alyson Gonzalez, Trevor Gonzalez, Tyler Gonzalez, Laura Klein, and Nolan Klein.

Jo was preceded in death by her daughter Kim Gonzalez and her two brothers Ernie and Ron Mashburn.

Grandma Jo’s Love of Baking

Grandma Jo’s passion for baking brought joy to countless lives. Her home was always filled with the tantalizing aromas of delicious treats. Whether it was a tray of freshly baked cookies or a decadent cake, her culinary creations were a testament to her love and generosity.
