It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Albert Laforme Sr., age 87, on May 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and the compassionate staff at Premier Nursing Home in Nashua, New Hampshire.

A Life Well-Lived

John’s remarkable journey began in Gloucester, Massachusetts, where he was born to Levy and Margaret Muise. After the untimely passing of his mother, young John found sanctuary in the Franco American Orphanage and was later adopted by Emile and Yvonne Laforme of Westford, Massachusetts, at the tender age of 12.

Throughout his youth, John embraced sports, made lasting friendships, and diligently worked as an apple picker at Drew Farm in Westford.

Patriotic Service

Driven by a sense of duty, John joined the National Guard of Massachusetts before honorably serving in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957 as a Signalman 3rd Class. He took immense pride in his service to his country and cherished the memories of his days as a seaman.

Professional Accomplishments

After his military service, John embarked on a successful career as a Manufacturing Engineer and Manager at AVCO Systems in Wilmington, Massachusetts, and Varian Ion Implant Systems in Gloucester, Massachusetts. His expertise and dedication led him to establish his own thriving manufacturing company, JPL Industries, in Salem, Massachusetts.

Devoted Family Man

John’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To provide a secure and nurturing home for his six children, he tirelessly worked three jobs. He cherished every moment spent with his family, creating countless memories filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.

Memorable Personality

John possessed a remarkable sense of humor and a knack for pranks. His family affectionately referred to him as “Terror Pepere,” a testament to his fun-loving nature. John’s Catholic faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing him with unwavering support.

Cherished Legacy

John is survived by his loving mother of his children, Lorraine M. Michaud; sons Lou Stafford, Mark Stafford and wife Lisa, and John Laforme Jr. and companion Teresa Argente; daughters Cheryl Bovill and late husband Russell Bovill, and Cynthia Driggers and husband Jason; grandchildren Sonya Emond, Amanda Agosto, Michael Parisi, Ashley Laforme, Katie Perez, Russell Bovill Jr., and Dylan Driggers; numerous great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

Services

Visitation will be held at the Laurin Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket Street, Lowell, from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in John’s memory.
