Mobile reports second juvenile shooting in two days; a boy was unintentionally shot.


A boy is recovering after being unintentionally shot by another juvenile on Friday morning in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile Police Department officers responded to Willow Lane at approximately 11:45 a.m., finding the boy with non-life-threatening injuries. Police determined that the victim had been accidentally shot by another boy who had gained access to a handgun. The circumstances surrounding how and where the second boy obtained the gun were not released, nor were the ages of either boy. The victim received treatment at a local hospital.

This shooting marks the second involving juveniles in Mobile within two days. On Thursday, a girl was injured by gunfire when another girl was playing with a gun inside a vehicle. The girl possessing the weapon was subsequently charged with second-degree assault.

According to Everytown For Gun Safety’s national index, at least seven unintentional shootings by children have occurred in Alabama this year, resulting in two fatalities.
