The Multiplayer Shape Drawing Competition is a pass-and-play game for two or more players on one screen. The game picks a shape at random for each player — a circle, square, triangle or star — and scores the drawing out of 100. This Multiplayer Shape Drawing Competition needs no sign-up and no download. Add names, take turns with the mouse, and see who tops the final table.
How to use the Multiplayer Shape Drawing Competition
- Type a name in the “Player name” box and click “Add Player”. Repeat for every player.
- Click “Start Competition”. The game names the first player and a shape, for example “draw a perfect star!”.
- On your turn, press the mouse button on the 400 × 400 canvas and draw that shape in one stroke.
- Release the mouse button to finish. Your turn ends and the next player is called after a short pause.
- After the last player, the final scores appear in order, best score first.
You cannot choose your shape. Each player gets one shape, picked at random from circle, square, triangle and star.
Worked example
Each shape is scored in its own way. Ben is asked for a square. The game only measures the outer box of his drawing: 220 pixels wide and 205 pixels tall. The difference is 15, so Ben scores 100 − 15 = 85%. Cara draws a triangle. The game works out its area, 20,000 square pixels, and compares it with a fixed target of 26,667. She is 25% away from the target, so she scores 75%. A circle is scored like a circle game: average distance error from the centre, taken away from 100. A star is scored on how evenly spaced your mouse points are. That is why the same steady hand can win with one shape and lose with another.
Example results
These are sample scores, worked out with the game’s own formulas for each shape.
| Sample player | Shape asked | What the code measured | Sample score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ana | Circle | Average distance error of 3.2 pixels | 96.82% |
| Ben | Square | Outer box 220 × 205 pixels | 85.00% |
| Cara | Square | Outer box 200 × 200 pixels | 100.00% |
| Dan | Triangle | Area 20,000 against a 26,667 target | 75.00% |
| Eli | Triangle | Area 26,600, close to the target | 99.75% |
| Fay | Star | Uneven stroke gaps, 3.5 pixel average error | 96.51% |
Limits and good to know
- One shape per player, chosen at random. There is no picking, swapping or second try, unless your stroke was too small to score.
- Each shape is judged by one simple measure only. For a square, only the width and height of the outer box count. Wobbly edges are not measured.
- For a triangle, only the area counts, against a fixed target of 26,667 square pixels. Angles and side lengths are not checked.
- For a star, the score rests on the spacing between mouse points. A steady pace helps more than a neat outline.
- This is a local game on one screen, with mouse drawing only. There is no online play, and touch drawing is not built in.
- Your score is not shown after your turn. Scores appear only in the final list.
Why is my result empty or wrong?
Odd scores usually make sense once you know the one measure used for your shape.
- Your rough-looking square scored 100%: its outer box was as wide as it was tall, and that is all the game checks.
- Your neat triangle scored low: its area missed the fixed target size. Draw a bigger or smaller triangle to land closer to it.
- Your star score changed with your drawing speed: the points are mouse samples, so fast and slow parts change their spacing.
- Nothing was scored: your stroke had almost no points. The game asks for a larger shape, and you keep your turn.
- Drawing does not work at all: add a player and click “Start Competition” first. Drawing before the game starts does nothing.
Why use this Multiplayer Shape Drawing Competition?
It adds surprise to a simple drawing contest, because nobody knows which shape they will get. There are no accounts or installs, turns are quick, and the final table makes the winner plain. It works well for short group games in class, at work breaks or at home, on one shared computer. A game with four players takes only a few minutes from names to final table.
Multiplayer Shape Drawing Competition – frequently asked questions
Which shapes can the Multiplayer Shape Drawing Competition ask for?
One of four shapes, picked at random for each player: a circle, a square, a triangle or a star. You cannot choose your shape.
How is each shape scored?
Circles use distance error from the centre. Squares compare outer width and height. Triangles compare area with a fixed target. Stars use the spacing of your mouse points.
Why did my score not appear after my turn?
The game does not show scores turn by turn. All scores appear together in the final list once the last player has drawn.
Is anything I type or draw sent to a server?
No. Names and drawings are kept in the page in your browser. The game code has no upload or network step.
