Obituary: Annie Ruth “Ruth” Johnson

Cullman, AL – Annie Ruth “Ruth” Johnson, 87, passed away on April 27, 2024.

Life & Legacy

Born in Cullman on October 8, 1936 to Leon and Vera Mae Haney, Ruth was a beloved member of her community. She retired from the former Hyatt restaurant and enjoyed activities such as walking, reading, and canning preserves.

Ruth was a devout Christian who worshipped the Lord daily. Her unwavering faith and love for God were an inspiration to those around her.

Family & Friends

Ruth is survived by her daughters Annie McGhee (Gary) and Peggy Murphree (Wayne); sons George Johnson Jr. (Danni) and Paul Johnson (Tiffany); stepdaughters Stella Phelps and Mary Ann Prestridge; brothers Herman Haney (Sue) and Joe Haney; as well as 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Douglas and Doyle Haney; granddaughters Alice Revells and Julie Snell; and grandson Billy Worrell.

Memorial Services

Funeral services will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 6th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Wayne Barnett. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Blair Community.

Visitation will be held at Moss Funeral Home on Sunday, May 5th, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to her church or a charity of your choice.
