Obituary: Audrey Hewett

Audrey Hewett, 90, of Sidney, passed away on January 8th. A graveside service will be held on June 12th at 11 a.m. at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Maine.

Early Life and Family

Audrey was born on June 12, 1932, in Lexington, Maine. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Smith) Hewett. She grew up on the family farm with her four siblings. Audrey attended Lexington High School, where she was a standout student and athlete.

After graduating from high school, Audrey moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked as a secretary. She met her future husband, Robert, there, and they were married in 1955. The couple moved to Sidney in 1960, where they raised their three children.

Career and Community Involvement

Audrey was a devoted wife and mother. She was also an active member of her community. She volunteered at the Sidney Public Library and the local food pantry. She was also a member of the Sidney Historical Society.

In her later years, Audrey enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

Legacy

Audrey Hewett was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a kind and generous woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Survivors

Audrey is survived by her three children, Robert Hewett Jr. of Sidney, Mary Hewett of Augusta, and John Hewett of Portland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Burial Arrangements

A graveside service will be held on June 12th at 11 a.m. at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home.
