Irene Mary Utinans, Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Dies at 74

Irene Mary Utinans, a longtime resident of Antioch, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. She was 74 years old.

Irene was born on February 11, 1950, in Germany, to Joseph and Olga (Pasternak) Pietrzak. She grew up in a close-knit family and had fond memories of her childhood. Irene met her husband, Jim, in 1971, and they married two years later. The couple welcomed three children into the world: James, Jon, and Julie. Irene was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first.

Irene enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to go camping, hiking, and fishing. She was also an avid gardener and took pride in her beautiful flower beds. Irene loved to read and could often be found curled up with a good book. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and always had a warm smile and a kind word for everyone she met.

Irene is survived by her husband, Jim; her sons, James (Jenny) and Jon (fiancée Sara); her grandchildren, Tyler (Kathy), Sierra, and Andrew; her siblings, Lucy (Charlie) Branon, Nancy Pugh, Betty (Danny) Blonski, Joanne (Mickey) Mack, and Joey (Robin) Pietrzak; her son-in-law, Thomas Domek; and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Olga Pietrzak; her daughter, Julie Domek; her infant twins, Anthony and MaryAnne Utinans; her sister, Harriet (Ben) Hendricks; and her brother-in-law, Dean Pugh.
