Obituary: Lillian Holst
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend Passes Away Peacefully
Lillian Holst, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was 94 years old.
Lillian was born on November 17, 1929, in Stickney, Illinois, to Walter and Lillian (neƩ Shumbera) Albrecht. She grew up in a loving home and shared many fond memories of her childhood.
Lillian met the love of her life, Peter A. Holst, and they were married on February 9, 1958, in Lyons, Illinois. They spent many happy years together, raising their two daughters and creating a lifetime of memories.
Lillian had a fulfilling career as a switchboard operator before retiring and devoting her time to her family and hobbies. She was an avid bowler and gardener, and she took great pride in keeping her home beautiful. Lillian also enjoyed restaurant outings, storytelling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lillian was a kind and loving person who always had a smile on her face. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Herbert) Brooks of Kenosha, WI, and Bonnie (Steve) Wilson of Round Lake Beach, IL; six grandchildren: Virginia Brooks, Harley Brooks, Amanda (Brian) Rohrscheib, Herbert (Amber) Brooks, Jr., Shannon (Brandon Heino) Grove, and April (Roberto) Basurto; and several great-grandchildren.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, on June 28, 2008; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
A Prayer Service will be held at a later date in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI. Arrangements have been entrusted to the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Lillian’s memory.
