Franklin D. Speakman: A Life of Service and Faith

Obituary

Franklin D. Speakman, 81, of Falkville, Alabama, entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday evening, May 15, 2024. Mr. Speakman was born in Cullman County, Alabama, on August 27, 1942, to Irwin Washington and Bessie Mildred Massey Speakman.

A Family Man

Mr. Speakman married his wife, Imogene “Jean” Page Speakman, at the age of seventeen. Frank and Jean were married for sixty-three years. Together they had a daughter, Rhonda, who brought them immense joy. They were also blessed with grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and another great-grandchild on the way.

A Dedicated Minister

Several years into their marriage, Frank was called into the ministry. For the next fifty years, he shared the message of salvation through Christ Jesus. He preached at various churches in the area and was honored to have taken the word of God to Canada and Norway. In his retirement, he and Jean enjoyed attending Temple Baptist Church.

A Caring Neighbor

Frank lived out his faith with a servant’s heart. He was always offering to help his neighbors. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his flowers, and he often shared his talents and knowledge with others. He made sure their yards were free of leaves and limbs, and even planted flower beds for them. Frank showed the love of Christ through his actions.

Entering Eternity

While his family grieves their loss, they find comfort in knowing that Frank is now in the presence of the Father. Days before his passing, Frank expressed his excitement to meet his Savior. He is now made new, free from pain and sorrow, and reunited with his Heavenly Father.

Preceded in Death

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers (John B. Speakman, Ollie Speakman), and sisters (Earlene Morgan, Marie Warnke, Nella Mae Massey).
