It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Thomas Keilty Jr., a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend. Gary passed away peacefully at his home in Tampa, Florida, on May 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Early Life and Education

Gary was born on May 13, 1963, in Rutland, Vermont, to Ann and Gary Keilty. He grew up in the picturesque town of Readfield, Maine, where he attended Maranacook Community High School. Gary’s academic brilliance shone through at the University of Southern Maine, where he graduated with honors in 1985.

Professional Career

Gary dedicated his life to a rewarding career in the professional services industry. He quickly rose through the ranks as a healthcare consultant, earning the prestigious roles of Principal in Deloitte and Managing Director in Huron Consulting Group and FTI Consulting. Gary became nationally recognized as an expert in forensic and regulatory matters in the healthcare field. His knowledge and insights were highly sought after by clients and industry professionals alike.

Aviation and Adventure

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary was a passionate aviator and adventure seeker. He became a certified private single-engine aircraft pilot and dedicated time partnering with Pilots N Paws, an organization that rescues dogs and transports them to rescue facilities for adoption. Gary’s love for the skies and his kind heart made him an invaluable member of the Pilots N Paws community.

Personal Life

In 1989, Gary married the love of his life, Sylvia Lynn, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Their love story began in Saco, Maine, and flourished in Tampa, Florida, where they moved in 1993. Gary embraced his life in Tampa with Sylvia, exploring the Gulf Coast by boat, paddle boarding, and hiking. They cherished their time together, creating countless memories filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering love.

Legacy and Remembrance

Gary’s legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments and adventures. He was a loving and devoted husband, a supportive and caring son and brother, and a loyal friend. His kindness, generosity, and infectious smile will forever be remembered by those who knew him.

Gary is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sylvia Lynn Keilty; his parents, Ann and Gary Keilty of Readfield, Maine; his sisters, Kristen, Karen, and Gail; his nephew and nieces; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Celebration of Life and Memorial Contributions

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 3, at 10 a.m., at the Readfield United Methodist Church in Readfield, Maine. There will be a gathering of friends and family following the church memorial at Maranacook Lake Beach in Readfield at 1 p.m. for light refreshments and shared memories.
