Jacqueline Caron Gamache, RN, 98, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024 at her home in China, Maine. Born in Waterville to Paul J. Caron and Beatrice Darveau Caron, she lived a remarkable life filled with love, service, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Early Life and Education

  • Graduated from St. Francis De Sales Elementary School in 1941.
  • Completed Mount Merici Academy in 1944.
  • Joined the United States Nurses Cadet Corp. in 1944.
  • Graduated from the Sisters Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.

Nursing Career and Service

  • Practiced as a nurse at Seton Hospital and Mid-Maine Medical Center.
  • Specialized in special units and retired as an Infection Control Educator in 1980.
  • Dedicated her life to caring for others and advocating for the well-being of her patients.

Family and Community

  • Married Arthur J. Gamache of Winslow and raised a family in Bingham, Maine.
  • Served as president of the Altar Guild at St. Peter’s Parish in Bingham.
  • Active member of the Exchange Club of Greater Waterville.
  • Enjoyed golfing at Waterville Country Club and Natanis Golf Course.
  • Attended baseball games with her brother, Ronald, whose son-in-law managed professional teams.

Later Years and Legacy

  • Spent winters with her husband in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
  • Member of Hurlburt Field Air Force Base Chapel and Okaloosa Island Garden Club.
  • Beloved mother of five children: A. Paul Gamache, Michele Ferris, Celeste Erickson, Peter Gamache, and Dr. A. Jules Gamache.
  • Adoring grandmother of 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

  • Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Notre Dame du Perpetual Scours Catholic Church-Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville, Maine at 10 a.m.
  • Rite of Committal at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
  • Celebration of life will follow at the parish meeting hall at Notre Dame Church.
  • In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to ImpACTA Kids, a charitable organization focused on providing opportunities for children to achieve their dreams.
