Michael “Mike” D. Bragg, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Vassalboro on April 19, 2024, at the age of 66. His passing leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Early Life and Education

Mike was born on July 14, 1957, in Waterville, Maine, to John and Albertine (York) Bragg. He spent his childhood in Winslow, where he attended the Winslow Public School system and graduated from Winslow High School in 1975.

Professional Life

Mike dedicated most of his professional life to the tire industry. He held a long-standing position at Sullivan Tire, formerly known as Central Tire in Shawmut, where he excelled in tire sales and service. His expertise and dedication earned him the respect of both colleagues and customers.

Community Involvement

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mike was an active member of his community. In the 1980s, he served as a volunteer at the Vassalboro Fire Department, where he shared his time and skills to protect and serve his neighbors.

Mike’s passion for the outdoors led him to join the Winslow Fort Halifax Snowdrifters snowmobile club in the 1990s. He embraced the camaraderie and shared experiences with fellow snowmobiling enthusiasts.

Personal Life and Family

Mike was a devoted family man. In 1978, he married his first love, Jacqueline (Esancy) Bragg, and together they welcomed two wonderful children into the world.

Several years later, Mike found his soulmate and longtime love, Susan (Garnett) Bragg. They married in 1987 and enjoyed a fulfilling and loving union until the end.

Mike’s family was the center of his world. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He found immense joy in creating memories with his loved ones.

Hobbies and Interests

When Mike wasn’t working or spending time with family, he pursued his hobbies and interests with equal passion.

  • Hunting and fishing were among Mike’s favorite outdoor activities. He relished the thrill of the chase and the serenity of casting a line in the water.
  • Camping was another pastime that Mike enjoyed. He loved pitching a tent at Beaver Brook in Monmouth or Pattee Pond in Winslow, surrounded by nature’s tranquility.
  • Mike had a deep appreciation for stock car racing. He raced in the Strictly Street division at Unity Raceway from the early 1970s to the 1990s. After his racing days, he became a dedicated member of the crew on the infield at Unity Raceway.

Legacy and Remembrance

Mike Bragg will be remembered as a kind, loving, and generous man. His unwavering spirit, infectious smile, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire community.

Arrangements

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the home where he grew up at 416 Maple Ridge Rd., Winslow on June 1 at 2 p.m. A graveside burial will be held at a later date.
