In Memoriam: Raymond Donald Millwood, Beloved Father and Community Figure
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Donald Millwood, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Millwood passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the age of 79.
Born on August 10, 1944, in a close-knit family, Mr. Millwood’s early life was marked by warmth and an unwavering sense of community. He cherished his siblings and always spoke fondly of the memories they shared. As a young man, Mr. Millwood had a passion for carpentry, a skill he honed throughout his life and passed on to his sons.
Mr. Millwood’s greatest joy came from his family. He met the love of his life, Betty, and together they raised a loving family that became the cornerstone of his existence. He was a devoted husband, caring father, and doting grandfather who always put their needs before his own. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense happiness to his life, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them, sharing his wisdom and creating lasting memories.
Beyond his family, Mr. Millwood was an active member of the Vinemont community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and support local events. His generosity extended beyond his immediate surroundings, as he believed in giving back to those in need. Mr. Millwood’s kindness and compassion left an enduring mark on the community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The funeral service for Mr. Millwood will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, also at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at New Hope, North Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Millwood is survived by his daughters, Renea Standridge, Kim (Tim) Akers, and Jamie (Jeremy) Harbison; sons, Douglas (Tayanna) Millwood, Stevie (Kristy) Millwood, and Scottie (Christy) Millwood; grandchildren, Preston McClellan, Amanda (Bien) Bordas, Travor Millwood, Toni (Jeffrey) Johns, Takota Millwood, Judson Millwood, Colton Millwood, Austin Millwood, Adam Millwood, Alex Millwood, Samantha (Rylan) Jones, Joey Walker, and Jeremiah Harbison; great-grandchildren, Ariel and Prince McClellan, Roman Oliver Bordas, and one on the way, and Lila Johns; sisters, Ruby and Sharon Corley; brother, Kenneth Millwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Mr. Millwood’s legacy will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his years. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his loved ones, his generous spirit, and his unwavering belief in the power of community. May his soul find eternal peace.
