With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Peggy Joyce Thompson Sims, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Sims passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on May 20, 2024, at 10:16 a.m.

Funeral Arrangements

  • Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 3 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home.
  • Pastor Phillip Ashley will officiate the service.
  • Internment will follow at Bethlehem West Baptist Church Cemetery in Battleground, Alabama.
  • A viewing will be held on Thursday at Moss Service Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m.

Biography

Mrs. Sims was born on May 16, 1938, to Herman (Peg) Gurtis Thompson and Buena Lorene Cobb Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gerald Douglas Sims.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her three daughters, Janet Johnson, Susan (Mike) Graves, and Rebecca (Al) Renteria; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Legacy

Mrs. Sims was a dedicated teacher at Vinemont Elementary School for 29 years.

Her family and friends cherish the memories of her love, kindness, and unwavering support.

Mrs. Sims’ presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
