Biography

Melba Kay Pigg was born on December 17, 1933, to Artris and Vashti Allcorn in the Sardis Community, Alabama. She graduated from Addison High School in 1952, where she was a cheerleader. She married Gordon “Billy” Pigg, and they had five children: Phyllis (Wayne) Little, Dianne Voce, Gordon “Bubba” (Jan) Pigg, Mitchell Pigg, and Ellen Pigg.

Kay was a member of Sardis No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 50-year member of the “Lady Democrats” and was known for her famous “squash patties” and chocolate cake.

Services

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sardis No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church in the Sardis Community. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the adjoining cemetery.
