With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dick MacDonald, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Dick passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, in Rockport, Maine, at the age of 88.

Early Life and Career

Dick was born and raised in Camden, Maine, where he spent his childhood exploring the rugged coastline and forging lifelong friendships. After graduating from Camden High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Following his military service, Dick returned to Camden and began a successful career in the seafood industry. He worked tirelessly as a lobster fisherman and later as a manager at a local seafood processing plant, where he was known for his dedication and expertise.

Family and Community

Dick’s greatest joy in life was his family. He married the love of his life, Mary, and they raised three children together. Dick was a devoted husband and father, and he cherished every moment spent with his family.

Dick was also deeply involved in his community. He was a member of the Camden Lions Club, where he actively volunteered his time and supported various local initiatives. His infectious enthusiasm and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a beloved member of the Camden community.

Legacy of Love and Service

Dick will be fondly remembered for his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the many ways he made the world a better place.

A memorial service will be held in Dick’s honor on June 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine. All who knew and loved Dick are welcome to attend and celebrate his extraordinary life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Camden Lions Club in Dick’s memory.
