## Paul Edward “Ed” Marker (1946-2024)
Paul Edward Marker, lovingly known as Ed, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at the age of 78. Surrounded by the love of his family and the comfort of his faith, he returned to his heavenly home. A devoted husband, stepfather, and step-grandfather, Ed lived a life characterized by unwavering faith, genuine kindness, and a deep commitment to his loved ones.
Born on October 20, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Marcus Paul and Louise Esther Marker (Lee), Ed dedicated 31 years of his career to the State of Tennessee. His unwavering work ethic and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, reflecting his compassionate nature.
Ed’s faith in God was the cornerstone of his life. A humble and kind man, his devotion was evident in his active participation at the Portland General Baptist Church, where he touched the lives of many. His life served as a testament to his strong beliefs, demonstrating a commitment to service and fellowship.
Beyond his professional and spiritual life, Ed nurtured a passion for Southern Gospel music and photography. His warm and welcoming personality meant he never met a stranger, readily connecting with people from all walks of life. He enjoyed exploring new connections and enriching his experiences through these passions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M. Paul and Louise Esther Marker; his first wife, Deborah Marker; and his brothers, Stephen Bartron and Mark E. Marker.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Doris C. Marker; stepson Ricky Archer (Candy) of Trion, GA; stepdaughter Vanessa Jacobs (Ron) of Portland, TN; brothers Phillip R. Marker (Paulette) and Daniel W. Marker (Susan), both of Kettering, Ohio; sisters Elizabeth Bartron Pittenger of Weedville, PA, and Carol Bartron Furtick of Gaston, South Carolina; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at the Portland General Baptist Church, located at 107 W. Market St., Portland, TN 37148, on Friday, November 1, 2024. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Central Time), followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. (Central Time). Ed will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, wisdom, and joy will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
