Nicki Minaj may face criminal charges stemming from an incident detailed in a lawsuit filed by her former manager, Brandon Garrett. Law enforcement sources report that the Detroit Police Department has submitted a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor will now review the request to determine whether to file criminal charges against Minaj.
This development follows Garrett’s lawsuit filed on Friday, alleging a physical altercation with Minaj in Detroit in April 2024. According to the lawsuit, Garrett was called to Minaj’s dressing room after a performance. A dispute arose when Minaj discovered that Garrett had previously sent someone else to pick up one of her prescriptions. Garrett claims Minaj became enraged, threatened his life, and physically assaulted him, striking him in the face with an open hand and slapping his wrist, causing him to drop documents.
The lawsuit alleges assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and seeks unspecified damages. TMZ has reached out to Minaj’s representatives for comment, but has yet to receive a response.
