One sideways page can spoil a whole document: a scanned form saved in landscape, a chart that reads better upright, a photographed page merged into a portrait report. This free Rotate PDF tool turns pages back the right way up — all of them at once, a single page, or a whole range — by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, and saves the result as a new PDF. Drop your file in, pick the angle and the pages, and download the fixed document. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
How to rotate PDF pages with this tool
Drag your PDF onto the drop zone, or click it to choose the file from your device. The tool opens the document and tells you how many pages it has. Next choose an angle: 90 degrees clockwise puts a sideways page upright in most cases, 180 degrees fixes a page that is completely upside down, and 270 degrees clockwise — the same turn as 90 degrees counter-clockwise — rotates a page the other way. Then choose the scope: all pages, only one page (type its number), or a page range such as 2-4. If a page number or range does not fit the document, the tool stops and tells you, without changing anything. Press Rotate PDF and the turn is applied on top of each page’s existing rotation, then your new file downloads as your-file-rotated.pdf, ready to open, share or print.
Your file never leaves your device
Privacy is built into how this tool works: the file is converted locally in the browser and never uploaded to any server. The rotation happens with a PDF library running entirely on your own machine, so contracts, bank statements, ID scans and other sensitive documents stay exactly where they started — on your device. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and the tool will still work. Nothing is stored, logged or shared, because nothing ever travels anywhere.
How PDF rotation works, and when you need it
Every PDF page carries a rotation setting that tells viewers how to display it, in quarter turns of 90 degrees. Rotating a page here changes that setting in the saved file rather than redrawing or re-encoding the page, which is why the result is permanent — every reader, on every device, will show the page the new way up — and why the quality does not change. Because the turn adds to whatever rotation a page already has, a page already turned 90 degrees needs another 270 to come back to upright; the tool does that arithmetic for you. The everyday cases are familiar: a scanner that feeds pages in sideways, a landscape spreadsheet or chart dropped into a portrait report, a certificate saved upside down, or phone photos of pages merged into a PDF in mixed orientations. Use all-pages mode when the whole scan came through wrong, single-page mode for the one rogue page, and a range when a whole appendix or chapter sits sideways.
Size limits and file requirements
The tool accepts PDF files up to 30 MB. Because everything runs in your browser, very large PDFs are limited by your device’s memory rather than by any server quota, so a huge document may struggle on an older phone while handling fine on a desktop. Password-protected (encrypted) PDFs cannot be rotated — the tool will tell you if your file is protected — and a damaged or corrupt file cannot be opened either. Rotation changes orientation only: it does not crop, resize or recompress pages, so quality and file size stay essentially the same. Only quarter turns are possible — a page photographed at a slight tilt cannot be straightened here, because that needs deskewing in an image editor, not rotation.
Rotate PDF – frequently asked questions
Is this Rotate PDF tool free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many PDFs you can rotate.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is processed locally in your browser and never uploaded, so your documents stay private on your own device.
Does rotating a PDF lower its quality?
No. The tool only changes each page’s rotation setting and saves the file; the page contents are not re-encoded, so text and images keep their original quality.
Can I rotate just one page, or a range of pages?
Yes. Choose “Only one page” and type its number, or “A page range” and type something like 2-4. Pages outside your choice are left exactly as they were.
