'Severance' Season 2: Release, Viewing, and Details

Nearly three years after the gripping Season 1 finale, Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed workplace thriller, *Severance*, returns. Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro) are back at the enigmatic Lumon Industries, picking up where they left off. The season one finale, which aired February 18, 2022, saw the severed employees take significant risks, culminating in Dylan triggering the Overtime Contingency and the MDR innies inhabiting their outies’ bodies in a daring attempt to expose Lumon’s secrets.

Showrunner Dan Erickson has hinted at significant consequences for this bold move. In a January 2nd interview with *Decider*, he warned of “pain,” stating, “We had a victory at the end of Season 1 for the innies, but at Lumon, there is no victory without pain. So get ready for some pain.” Echoing this sentiment, actor Zach Cherry cryptically described Season 2 in a single word: “severance.”

Director Ben Stiller, in a December 2024 *Vanity Fair* preview, reflected on the anticipation surrounding the show’s return. He acknowledged the dedicated fanbase and the pressure to deliver a satisfying season, stating, “It’s an interesting process making something like this second season because you now know there’s an audience there that cares… My hope is that, when they see this season, there’s an awareness that we’re trying to connect some dots and also leave some dots unconnected and put out some new dots to connect.”
