Read like a reviewer, not like a fan, with eight questions in hand.
What this tool does
This tool applies a bank of critical questions to any pasted paper text. It does not analyse your text with cleverness: it pairs the text with eight questions every careful reader should ask, covering sample size, controls, alternative explanations, measurement, generalisation, funding, replication, and missing information. The point is to slow you down at exactly the moment a confident claim invites you to speed up.
It works fully in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and you do not need an account. Paste your text, press the button, and read the result on the same page. That makes it useful for students, researchers, and anyone who has to get through a long paper quickly without losing the important parts.
How to use it
Paste a results paragraph, a discussion passage, or a single bold claim, and press the prompt button. Work through the eight questions one by one, and for each, find the answer in the paper or note that the paper does not give one. A question with no answer in the paper is itself a finding about the paper.
Worked example
A claim that sleep improved recall by 23 percent and therefore proves sleep causes better learning for all students meets the bank head-on: what was the sample, was there a control group, could another explanation fit, and does a student sample generalise to all students. The bank does not refute the claim, but it stops the word proves from passing unchallenged, which is the reviewer’s whole job.
How to read the results
The output lists the eight critical questions, the sentence count of your paste, and the first sentence to check, so you have a concrete starting point rather than a vague instruction to be critical. The questions are the same for every paste, deliberately, because good scepticism is a habit, not a bespoke reaction.
Do not treat the output as a final answer. It is a starting point for your own reading. Skim the highlighted parts first, then read the full passage around anything that matters for your work. A tool can point at the likely important sentences, but only you can judge whether they are actually important for your question.
Honest limits
A fixed question bank cannot spot the specific weakness of a specific paper, such as a flawed measure, a coding error, or a misread citation. It also cannot tell you whether an answer you find is satisfactory. The tool prompts scepticism, it does not perform it: the judgement remains entirely yours, and a paper that survives all eight questions is not thereby proven right.
This tool does not use artificial intelligence, and it does not understand your paper the way a human reader does. It follows fixed rules that you can inspect in the results. That is a strength when you want transparent, repeatable results, and a weakness when a passage needs real understanding, context, or judgement.
Tips for best results
Paste clean text. Remove page headers, footers, and reference lists before you paste, because they add noise to word counts and sentence scores. Work on one section at a time for long papers, and keep your original file open beside the tool so you can check anything surprising against the source. If you use the result in your own writing, always cite the original paper, never the tool output.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free? Yes. The tool is free to use online, with no sign-up and no download.
Is my text stored anywhere? No. Everything runs in your browser tab. Closing the tab removes your pasted text.
Can I trust the output completely? No tool of this kind should be trusted blindly. Use it to speed up reading and checking, then verify the important claims yourself in the original text.
