Social Preview Card Generator — Check Facebook, X & WhatsApp Cards

Type your title, description and image address, and watch at once how your link card looks on Facebook, X and WhatsApp. The previews update as you type. When the card looks right, copy the ready-made meta tags and paste them into the head section of your page, so the real platforms show the same card when anyone shares your link.

Why previews differ across apps

Every platform reads the same meta tags but draws the card its own way. Facebook shows a wide image with the domain name in small capitals above a bold title. X shows a similar card with rounded corners and its own text colours. WhatsApp shows a compact bubble with a short title and a couple of lines of text. The same tags can therefore look great on one app and cramped on another. That is why checking all three before you publish matters: a title that fits Facebook may be cut off on WhatsApp, and a description that reads well on X may lose its ending on Facebook.

How to use the meta tags

The tags this tool writes are the standard Open Graph and Twitter Card tags: og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url, og:type, and the matching twitter: tags. Paste the whole block into the head section of your page, before the closing head tag, and make sure the image address is a full public URL that anyone can open. If your page already has meta tags, replace the old title, description and image tags rather than adding a second set, because two competing sets confuse the crawlers and the result is unpredictable.

Image and text rules that save you trouble

Use an image at least 1200 pixels wide for the large-card layout, in JPG or PNG, hosted on a fast public address. Keep titles under about 60 characters and descriptions under about 150, so the text survives even the tightest card. Avoid text baked into the image itself, because small cards shrink it beyond reading. And always test with a real share to a private chat or a test page before a big launch: this tool shows faithful mock-ups, but the final render is each platform’s own code, and platforms change their card styles without warning.

Cache: why an old card can linger

Facebook, X and WhatsApp all cache link previews. If you fix a title or swap an image, old posts and chats may keep the previous card for hours or days. Each platform has a debugger or validator tool that can ask for a fresh fetch, and using it is the normal fix. Nothing on this page can clear another platform’s cache for you, so plan your card before you publish widely, not after. A card checked here first saves you that whole round of fixes.

Limits to know, stated plainly

These previews are mock-ups drawn in your browser to match each platform’s usual layout. They are not live renders from Facebook, X or WhatsApp, and they cannot show you exactly what a platform’s crawler will do with a tricky page, a blocked image or a redirect chain. The meta tags themselves are real and standard, and pasting them into your page is exactly what the platforms read. But if a platform cannot fetch your image, or your page blocks its crawler, the real card will differ, and no preview tool can prevent that. Test with a real share when it matters.

A thirty-second check before you publish

Run through four quick checks and most card problems disappear. First, does the title read in full on the smallest card? Second, does the description end cleanly instead of stopping mid-word? Third, does the image load from a public address, not from your own computer or a login-walled folder? Fourth, does the domain shown under the card match the site people will actually reach? If all four pass here, paste the tags into your page and share with confidence.
