Sports Team Explorer — Search Any Team, League & Stadium, Free

Search any sports team in the world — its league, founding year and stadium — or browse leagues by sport and list teams in a league. Data comes live from the free TheSportsDB database. No account, no app.

What does this tool do?

Search any sports team in the world and get its sport, league, founding year and stadium — or browse leagues by sport, then list teams in any league. One search box covers football clubs, basketball teams, ice hockey sides and more, all from the free TheSportsDB database. No account, no app, no sign-up.

How to use it

  1. Type a team name (for example, Arsenal) and press Search team. Click Details on any result for the full profile.
  2. Or pick a sport and press Browse leagues to see every league in that sport, then press Show teams on any league.
  3. Or type a league name directly (for example, English Premier League) and press Show teams in league.

Worked example

Search for Arsenal. The result shows Soccer as the sport, English Premier League as the league, 1892 as the founding year and Emirates Stadium as the ground. Click Details and you get the stadium location and a full club description. Now try the league route instead: type English Premier League into the league box and press Show teams in league — you get the first ten clubs alphabetically (Arsenal through Fulham), each with its own Details button.

What data is covered?

The database covers the big competitions well: football leagues around the world, the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL and many smaller leagues too. Coverage is strongest for men’s professional teams in the major sports. Very small or brand-new clubs may be missing, and that is a limit of the free database, not a bug in this page — if a search returns nothing, try the full official name or a different spelling.

Why the free key matters — and what it limits

This tool runs on the free tier of TheSportsDB, which allows 30 requests per minute. That is plenty for normal use, but it is why the page loads nothing until you search: every click you make is one request, and nothing is wasted on data you never asked for. If you ever see the rate-limit message, wait a minute and try again. The free tier also returns sample data, and this page is honest about it: league lists show the first few leagues per sport, team lists show the first ten clubs alphabetically, and badge images are not included on the free tier — so results show text facts (sport, league, founding year, stadium, description) rather than pictures. The facts themselves are real and correct; only the quantity is sampled.

Who is it for?

Football fans settling a pub argument about a club’s founding year, fantasy players checking which league a team plays in, students writing about a club’s history, and trivia lovers browsing leagues they have never heard of. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is tracked.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free? Yes. The data comes from the free tier of TheSportsDB and this page costs nothing to use.

Why are team names in English? The database stores team and league names in English, so results show the official English names even on the Spanish version of this page.

Can I see live scores? No — this tool is for team and league information (badges, stadiums, history), not live match scores.

Do I need an account? No. It is free with no sign-up.

Finding a team when you only know part of the name

Partial names work: typing “United” returns every team with United in its name, which is a good way to discover clubs you did not know existed. Typing a city name works too in many cases, because most club names contain their city. If your first search is too broad, add a word — “Real” alone gives a long list, while “Real Madrid” goes straight to the club.

Browsing leagues you have never heard of

The league browser is the fun part. Pick a sport you barely follow — handball, say — and browse its leagues: you will find competitions in countries you would never have guessed, some founded more than a century ago. Each league’s team list is one click away, so an afternoon of curiosity costs nothing and needs no account anywhere.
